GOOD NEWS

Our visit to the doctor today was quite encouraging. The cancer continues to show no sign of growth. In fact the doc says it has actually reduced to a small degee. He is recommending that I start on a drug called Tarceva. It is a once a day pill that is designed to keep the cancer from growing. So we will give it a try. There are some potential side effects, but the doc doesn't think they will be too severe. If that turns out to be true we will keep taking it. If not we can stop taking it. I'll be seeing the doc again in two weeks to assess results. I'll keep you informed.

Yea! I guess now, with all this good news and the fact that you continue to improve with your rehab, we can start talking politics again. :-)

What have you thought about the conventions?

Love, Jeanine

Hi John,
I stumbled across your blog - we don't know each other. My dad had a stroke last September and his progress continues to this day. The most remarkable improvements came in July, almost a year after the event. I'm sure it seems slow, but keep fighting the fight. You can do it.

Hello everyone,

I just googled Tarceva and wound up at their patient/caregiver site.
tarceva.com/patient/caregiver/basics.jsp

I clicked on the view video near the bottom right of the screen and it was very interesting. One very cool thing was that the doctor who explains much about the disease and the medication is Dr. West, Daddy's doctor. You might want to check it out.
